Carrie Prejean, former Miss California, to trade her crown for a wedding ring

Carrie Prejean will be wearing a diamond engagement ring, but no sash or crown, in 2010.

Carrie Prejean, the controversial figure who sparked a national debate when she was openly against gay marriage during the 2009 Miss USA competition, is set to tie the knot herself.

E! News broke the story on Sunday that the beauty queen’s boyfriend, St. Louis Rams quarterback Kyle Boller, proposed to Prejean in her home city of San Diego, California.

Prejean was a runner up in the pageant, but was later dethroned for failing to meet her contractual obligations, according to pageant officials.

It was speculated that a sex tape of Prejean, which was rumored to be in existence, might have influenced that officials’ decision.

"Carrie is a beautiful young woman, and I wish her well as she pursues her other interests," pageant owner Donald Trump told CNN at the time of the announcement.

While we’re sure it was a blow to have that jewel-encrusted tiara taken away, something tells us that a sparkling diamond engagement ring will get 2010 started off right for the blonde bombshell.

Taylor Swift hits all the right (jewelry) notes at the Grammy Awards

Taylor Swift has taken a lot of heat for her performance at the Grammy Awards.

Taylor Swift has been taking a lot of criticism for her performance at this year’s Grammy Awards. The singer performed a duet with Stevie Nicks, starting off with "Rhiannon" before launching into "Love Story." Audiences have been critical of the pair for their off-key renditions of both hits earlier this week.

However, Swift’s record label shot back and defended the singer, claiming that "This is about a true artist and writer and communicator. It’s not about that technically perfect performance."

While we love Swift’s catchy pop tunes (and who would dare say a bad word about Ms Nicks?), we have to admit that her breathy performance left something to be desired.

We did, however, love how she looked on the red carpet. Swift paired her shimmering midnight blue dress with equally eye-catching jewelry that included breathtaking Lorraine Schwartz 12-carat diamond earrings and an equally stunning diamond bracelet.

The songstress left her neck bare, but a necklace would have been overkill with such a glitzy gown.

Of course, we have to wonder if the sparkling ring on her left hand was the friendship ring that Taylor Lautner was rumored to be purchasing for his former flame, but we guess we’ll have to be patient to find out.

Emma Watson the highest-paid woman in show biz.

Emma Watson is one wealthy lady. On the heels of the announcement that she is starting her own eco-friendly clothing line, Vanity Fair recently reported that the British star of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" earned more than any other female entertainer this year, when she cashed a paycheck for $30 million dollars ($15 million for both installments of the seventh movie in the series).

The actress has also appeared in a Burberry ad campaign.

Watson beat out other high-powered public figures like Sandra Bullock, Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Last year Watson wore a gorgeous cuff bracelet to the Empire Film Awards, and she is known for donning bold jewelry like statement necklaces in her magazine spreads.

However, on the red carpet the star favors subtle pieces like small silver earrings or delicate bracelets.

While we are green with envy, we’re happy to see that unlike the Olsen twins, Watson isn’t just throwing away millions on hideous frocks and ridiculous accessories.

Lady Gaga is generating all the buzz around fashion and jewelry

What’s everyone talking about when it comes to fashion this year? Well, Lady Gaga, of course! The Global Language Monitor compiled a list of the top fashion buzzwords of Spring 2010 and she topped the list. Are you really surprised?

According to the Global Language Monitor’s website, it “documents, analyzes and tracks trends in language the world over, with a particular emphasis upon Global English.” And when compiling a list of the top fashion buzzwords of Spring 2010, Lady Gaga topped the list. It is the first time a name has been at the top of the GLM’s rankings.

The Director and Fashion Correspondent of GLM says, “The relationship between Stefani Germanotta, the girl from Yonkers, and haute couture may not be intuitively obvious, until you realize that Stefani would soon grow into one Lady GaGa… The fact remains that the world of fashion has been duly impacted by her in ways some subtle and some rather profound.”

We adore Carey Mulligan. The impish film star, who is up for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of an English school girl in "An Education," has been compared to style icon Audrey Hepburn, and for good reason. The slight and elegant-looking brunette looked pitch-perfect in the early ’60s period movie.

The moving movie is a coming-of-age tale that is sure to tug at your heartstrings. Though the film also made us want to steal some of her swinging London style.

Mulligan spends most of "An Education" wearing cute little frocks and smart skirt suits. She accessorizes the ensembles with vintage jewelry pieces like heart-shaped gold pendants and pearl earrings.

If you want to add some retro glam to your life, search for some traditional pieces and pair them with simple items in your closet. Lauren Conrad designs a bracelet to end dating abuse

Lauren Conrad has designed a bracelet to benefit women.

Lauren Conrad is equally known for her fierce fashion sense (which she has parlayed into her own clothing line) and her dramatic life that was chronicled on MTV’s reality show "The Hills." However, Conrad is now using her great taste to benefit a good cause.

The reality star recently designed the Have a Heart bracelet, the follow up to the Have a Heart necklace. The gold bracelet features a delicate gold chain with a gold charm in the middle and a lobster-claw closure.

All of the proceeds from the pretty bauble benefit the m.powerment by mark campaign., which works to end dating abuse.

While we always recommend supporting such a worthy cause, we also love the style of bracelet that the campaign chose. Gold is coming back in a big way, and no woman should be without a gold charm bracelet, wherever she chooses to get it from.

A charm bracelet is also a great gift for the ladies in your life, because you can follow the present up with meaningful charms in the years to come.

Carrie Underwood worked with her diamond engagement ring to create a stylish look.

Carrie Underwood has been showing off her engagement ring all over the place (and who came blame her? It’s gorgeous!), but the singer pulled out all the stops and accessorized her 7-carat diamond ring with plenty of other gorgeous pieces when she attented the recent Grammy Awards.

She paired her silver and white gown with triple drop clear quartz earrings, but skipped a decadent necklace to show off the asymmetrical neckline of her dress.

The country crooner also wore sparkling bangle bracelets on her right wrist, and carried a Swarovski crystal clutch for a little extra shimmer.

The Grammys typically produce plenty of crazy getups (case in point, J.Lo), but Underwood’s look was so simple and elegant that she could have been attending the Academy Awards.

We love her style and can’t wait to see what kind of wedding dress she chooses – or her wedding jewelry!

Even if she didn’t take home any Grammy Awards, she wins best dressed in our book.

Spears shows up at Grammys in engagement ring

Britney Spears spotted wearing an engagement ring at the Grammy Awards.

Britney Spears has been dating her manager Jason Trawick for a year, and it has been rumored that they songstress was anxious to make it official and tie the knot.

After her appearance at this year’s Grammy Awards, it seems safe to assume that Trawick might have made her a very happy woman and put a ring on her finger. Spears wore a diamond ring on her left hand and was all smiles as she posed for pictures.

It seems that the press has been a little slow on the uptake if the ring is for real, but it could be that they were too horrified by her fishnet dress to focus on the ice.

Spears wouldn’t be the only star to subtly announce her upcoming nuptials by wearing her bling on the red carpet – Kristen Bell paired her Grammy dress with a new engagement ring from fiancé Dax Shepard.

There haven’t yet been any details released on the ring, but it looks to be a swirled platinum ban with an intricate floral design beset by delicate diamonds.

Top 3 Grammy Jewelry Looks

The stars wore diamonds in abundance at the at the 2010 Grammy Awards.

The Grammys are all about glitz and glamour, and the stars didn’t disappoint this year. Our favorite songstresses went all out, and piled on the bracelets, necklaces, rings and earrings for an award-winning look. Here are our top three picks.

1. Beyonce took home six Grammy Awards, including a Grammy for Record of the Year, and she accessorized her golden goodie with some killer diamond hoop earrings that went with her sequined silver dress. We love the hoops, though we’re sure that the critics will have a thing or two to say about the flashy frock.

2. Carrie Underwood wore a gorgeous gold gown for her performance during the show, and she accented the glamorous dress with pitch-perfect diamond jewelry. Our favorite piece was her glimmering diamond bracelet with a swirling design- though her engagement ring from hockey player Mike Fisher was a close second.

3. Sheryl Crow paired her simple brown dress with some gorgeous gold jewelry. The actress piled on the gold bangle bracelets on her left wrist that matched her large, golden pendant earrings. To balance the look Crow wore an emerald cocktail ring on her right hand.

The music world pulled out all the stops for the big night, and now we can’t wait to see what the starlets of the screen come up with for Oscar day!

Miley Cyrus looked age-appropriate and style-conscious at the Grammys.

The press has been on high alert ever since Miley Cyrus was spotted wearing what appeared to be a sparkling diamond engagement ring. However, when the young songstress appeared on the Grammy Awards last night she had some pretty impressive baubles on nearly all of her fingers.

A two-fingered floral ring might not mean that she’s heading to the altar, but it does look pretty fashion forward. Cyrus paired her shiny, edgy rings with plenty of long, shiny silver necklaces and colored beads that perfectly complemented her long-sleeved mini-dress, which had glimmering silver stripes woven in. The whole outfit was retro chic, but thoroughly modern (and refreshingly age appropriate for the famous wild child).

If you have a fancy fete in your future, steal Cyrus’ look and double up on the long necklaces and rings for a fun and flashy party ensemble. The charms dangling from her chain necklaces were especially chic, so don’t be shy about piling on the bling.

Kristen Bell wore a diamond engagement ring on the red carpet.

Kristen Bell has been on a press junket for her latest romantic comedy, "When in Rome," in which she plays an unlucky-in-love curator who encounters a little magic when she attends her sister’s wedding in the eternal city.

However, it seems that in real life Bell has had no trouble getting a ring on her finger. The petite actress was spotted wearing what looked to be a diamond ring on the red carpet, and her rep has since confirmed that she is set to marry her "When in Rome" co-star Dax Shepard.

The two have been dating since 2007, and the 35-year-old Shepard proposed to 29-year-old Bell over the holidays.

While the tall funny-man and the cute-as-a-button actress seem to be a strange pairing, we’ve liked Bell since her "Veronica Mars" days, so Shepard is okay in our book. Especially after we got a look at the ring.

The bauble is a 3-carat emerald-cut diamond set in a platinum band with smaller diamond accents surrounding the main stone. The sparkler was designed by Neil Lane.

Lady Gaga shocks fans as usual at the Grammys

Lady GaGa wears unexpected outfits, avant garde jewelry.

Lady Gaga is known for her insane getups, out-of-control hairstyles and big wigs, but fans were treated to even more over-the-top than her usual ensembles at last night’s Grammy Awards.

While many of the nominees sported some great diamond bracelets, earrings and necklaces, Gaga opted for bejeweled platform shoes, tights and sleeves, which were designed by Armani.

Gaga’s accessories were as equally strange as her odd dress. We love big rings, but the star-shaped sculpture attached to her hand looked more like a weapon than a statement piece. Maybe it represented her Gaga-centric theory of the universe?

After the red-lace face mask that she wore to accept her VMA last year, it would be hard to shock us, but we were a little taken aback by her second ensemble of the night. It included a structural silver and crystal head piece which replaced the yellow wig she wore earlier in the evening.

Just once we’d love to see her walk down the red carpet in a killer (and simple) black dress paired with some diamond earrings or a pearl necklace, but we’re sure that won’t happen anytime soon. Sigh.

Kate Moss loves vintage diamond rings

Kate Moss seen shopping for vintage diamond rings.

Kate Moss, who has been rumored to be engaged to her rocker boyfriend Jamie Hince, was recently seen ring-shopping in a vintage store near her London home.

Was she trying to give Hince a hint? Hardly. The rocker proposed to the supermodel earlier this month on her birthday with a diamond ring that her boss at Top Hop helped him pick out.

However, it’s rumored that when Hince proffered the ring to Moss, she said she needed a little time, as the pair is still together but Moss hasn’t been seen wearing the bauble.

Perhaps she just detested the ring? Hating a diamond ring that your boyfriend and your boss picked out, now that has to be a little uncomfortable for all parties involved.

Maybe Moss just wants to add to her extensive jewelry collection? That seems like a possibility.

The pair has been dating since September of 2007, and appear to be going strong except for the conspicuously absent ring.

Alicia Keys spotted wearing diamond engagement ring

Alicia Keys was spotted in a diamond engagement ring from Swizz Beatz.

Alicia Keys and her reps have kept mum about it so far, but it seems like a done deal – the beautiful R&B singer appears to be engaged.

Keys and her boyfriend music producer DJ Swizz Beatz (real name Kasseem Dean) have been photographed walking on the beach in Hawaii, with Keys sporting a very conspicuous diamond ring on her left hand.

The two apparently took a romantic trip to the tropical paradise in honor of Keys’ 29th birthday.

There is one person who’s sure to be less-than-thrilled at this recent romantic development – Dean’s wife. Yeah, that’s right, he’s still married to the woman whom he was with when he and Keys met, singer Mashonda.

We’re guessing that finalizing his divorce is going to be an important part of the couple’s wedding planning.

Keys is always wearing some fabulous jewelry, like diamond hoop earrings and killer necklaces, so we’re sure that the ring is stunner. We can’t wait to get a closer look!

The ring is rumored to be whopping 7-carats. Not too shabby, Dean!

Christina Hendricks pairs stunning diamond earrings with matching gold ring

Hendricks made her simple dress look exotic with diamond and gold jewelry.

Christina Hendricks, the beautiful red head who constantly turned heads as Joan Holloway on AMC’s show "Mad Men," arrived at the Screen Actors Guild Awards looking incredible.

We loved the one-shouldered red dress, but we have to say that it might have been a little plain if it wasn’t for her killer jewelry.

The beautiful starlet wore Irat Design 18-carat gold and rose-cut diamond earrings, which complemented her creamy skin and gave her outfit a slightly exotic look, with a matching 18-carat gold and rose-cut cocktail ring that covered her knuckle.

Both pieces were absolutely stunning, and we can’t decide which we liked more.

To top off the outfit, Hendricks wore gold bangle bracelets that had a more laid back, bohemian vibe, and carried a patterned Caovilla clutch.

This whole ensemble is the perfect example of how the right jewelry can really elevate a look and change the whole vibe of a dress. Instead of looking stuffy or predictable, Hendricks looked elegant and unique in a simple red dress.

Take note Ms Kidman: this is how you do gold.

Kidman piled on the gold jewelry at the award show.

While we’re always fans of Nicole, the fiery redhead departed from her classic and elegant style at this year’s SAG awards, and sported a colorful, strapless sequined frock with loads of gold jewelry.

She wore two necklaces, a Fred Leighton 19th-century gold necklace and an Indian piece, which was inlaid with rubies and diamonds. At her wrists were more vintage pieces – four separate Fred Leighton gold bracelets that sparkled with diamonds.

Though we absolutely love the jewelry – love it – we’re not so crazy about the dress, and we think that pairing such a loud outfit with such flashy pieces was a rare fashion misstep for one of our favorite leading ladies.

She looked fabulous at the Golden Globes, so we’re hoping that she regroups and comes up with something a little more red carpet worthy for the Academy Awards this spring.

Enamel jewelry adds a dose of casual style to fancy dresses.

Lea Michele, who won a Screen Actors Guild Award over the weekend for her performance as Rachel Berry on "Glee" (the cast won for best comedy ensemble), stood out in her own right on the red carpet.

The talented actress, who has also appeared on Broadway, wore an emerald green Malandrino dress paired with some gorgeous bangle bracelets.

She wore two gold and enamel bangles – one slim and one a little thicker on her left wrist. They were made up of blue and green stripes, and were the perfect complement to her green gown.

We like that she went for something a little bit artsy, which gave her whole ensemble a luxe bohemian vibe. We’re all about the diamonds, but we can appreciate cool artisanal piece when it’s done right.

We highly recommend trying to snag a similar look for yourself the next time that you’re getting ready for a big night out. Pairing a fancy blouse or dress with more laid-back pieces, leather or beaded jewelry, is a great way to own your cool and create a look that’s all your own.

Cotillard wore an emerald cocktail ring to add some color to her white dress.

Mon Dieu! If you didn’t catch a glimpse of Marion Cotillard’s gorgeous (and gigantic) 28-carat emerald and diamond ring, you’re either blind or you didn’t watch the Screen Actors Guild awards. The emerald ring was enormous and glittering. Needless to say we were green with envy, but thoroughly impressed.

Though the French actress never fails to wow us with her chic sense of style, we love that she chose to pair such a colorful and bold cocktail ring with an otherwise all-white ensemble.

Other than the ring, she wasn’t sporting any other jewelry, which we think was wise – why try to compete with such a perfect piece?
Cotillard bravely mixed silver and gold, and paired her white ensemble with a rose gold sequin clutch.

The ring was by Chopard, the Swedish jewelry designer who has also outfitted many of Cotillard’s costars in "Nine" on the red carpet, including Nicole Kidman and Kate Hudson.

Kate Hudson got creative with her diamond jewelry on the red carpet.

Cartier has got Kate Hudson’s back. Literally. At this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, the starlet paired her long backless dress with a Cartier white gold and diamond long sautoir spotlight necklace, worn backwards and sliding between her shoulder blades. Now that’s luxurious.

The blonde beauty also sported diamond drop earrings, which were lovely, and two diamond rings. She paired her look with a sparkling clutch. We love when girls match their diamond jewelry to their sparkling designer handbags, don’t you?

We really like this whole look – even more than we liked her appearance at the Golden Globes, which featured those show-stopping dangling diamond earrings.

But, we’re sure that some people are going to have a problem with the backwards necklace. We think it was a great way to draw attention to her toned back, but what do you think? Should diamonds be reserved for the front or can a girl get creative with her bling?

Ginnifer Goodwin is always adorable, but the pretty actress looked especially elegant at the Golden Globes in a cobalt blue Vionnet cocktail dress and Neil Lane diamond jewelry.

Her giant earrings were absolutely stunning. The sparkling, shoulder-grazing pieces drew attention to her beautiful eyes and worked really well with her cute pixie cut – long hair would have hidden all that ice!

We hate to play favorites, but we have to say that the "Big Love" actress’ look might have been the best of the night.
