Learn how to wear a brooch from Michelle Obama's exampleDo you have a gorgeous brooch that you feel self-conscious wearing? While sporting a pin might seem a little old-fashioned, you could take the First Lady’s lead and wear it on a layered pearl necklace for a unique and pretty look.

The always-stylish Michelle Obama discussed the accessory with Oprah Winfrey when the TV personality visited the White House earlier this week. President Obama told Oprah that he gave his wife the piece, which was designed by Garavelli, as an anniversary present.

The Huffington Post reported that the gem-encrusted gold pin has been sought after since the TV special aired.

During the interview, Michelle wore a plum-colored v-neck dress and paired the pearl necklace with diamond earrings for an elegant and polished look.

If you have family heirlooms or old-fashioned pieces collecting dust in your jewelry box, try pairing them with more contemporary accessories for a unique an edgy look. For example, if you have a large gold locket, try wearing it along with a layered necklace.

  • I haven't worn my brooch, because i think that it is out of date to wearing brooch on clothes! I like more fashion jewelry, such as stainless steel jewelry,Titanium jewelry, tungsten jewelry and so on! I think that these steel jewelry are leading the fashion trends nowadays! But now, I will wear my brooch again after I have read about this article! Any thing can be fashion if you wear it unique!
