We adore Carey Mulligan. The impish film star, who is up for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of an English school girl in "An Education," has been compared to style icon Audrey Hepburn, and for good reason. The slight and elegant-looking brunette looked pitch-perfect in the early ’60s period movie.

The moving movie is a coming-of-age tale that is sure to tug at your heartstrings. Though the film also made us want to steal some of her swinging London style.

Mulligan spends most of "An Education" wearing cute little frocks and smart skirt suits. She accessorizes the ensembles with vintage jewelry pieces like heart-shaped gold pendants and pearl earrings.

If you want to add some retro glam to your life, search for some traditional pieces and pair them with simple items in your closet. A fitted tan blazer with a pearl necklace is a timeless look that won’t appear costumey, and a simple cardigan with a gold locket will look equally old-school in an updated way.
