Sparkle Like The Stars

Sex, violence and hot, hot bodies. These are the makings of any high quality film. Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the latest Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt flick definitely fits the bill. Talking about bills this movie is well worth its $110 million budget (and who knows how much was spent pushing that steamy, not to mention conviently timed, romance between co-stars, which left the sweet but homely housewife Jennifer Aniston behind. Sorry Jennifer, but you just can’t compete with Angelina and the Fox publicity department. But hey, you should have seen this mid-life crises wild oat sowing a mile away when Brad started getting all buddy buddy with George Clooney. Just sayin.)

In any case the movie is going strong and looks to be one of this year’s big money makers. But in the midst of all the hype, hoopla and explosions, I took a moment to appreciate one of the finer aspects of the film; the his and hers watches (pictured above).

Whether you are a secret agent, international spy or just a regular person wandering about the streets wishing to look fabulous, a well crafted watch is one of the more functional and neccessary accessories in your collection. How else can you extricate yourself from an excruciating conversation with your ex’s slightly “off” neighbor who you hoped wouldn’t see you walking by, than by looking down at your watch and oh-so-painfully saying “oh no, darling, I’d love to stay and chat more about how you finally house broke the dog, but really, have somewhere fabulously important to be right now”. Such an assertion carries more weight if the watch looks fabulous as well, thus assuring a clean getaway unfettered by bothersome questions.

That having been said, you do not need a $110 million budget to look fab and timely. Glamor is in the understatement, afterall. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie can currently be seen on sceens world wide getting all hot, heavy, and making things explode in Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Brad is set to be in four more films in 2006. Angelina is currently filming The Good Sheperd, directed by Robert De Niro.
