Emily Blunt showed up at the NYC premiere of "Young Victoria" looking pretty regal herself. The statuesque Brit wore a sparkling black dress covered in a red-flower pattern – perfect for Christmas.
Unlike the elaborate royal jewel she wears in the movie, Blunt went for an understated look on the red carpet. Her minimalist jewelry was hardly fit for a queen: she wore a subtle ring on her left hand and a cuff bracelet on her right wrist.
However, moviegoers need not despair. Blunt will rock some elegant crown jewels in the actual film, which follows Queen Victoria of England through her younger years and her ascension into power in 1837.
Don’t be surprised if the movie inspires you to incorporate some Victorian-style baubles into your wardrobe – there’s something very luxurious and timeless about chokers covered in gem stones and matching earrings.
Even if you can’t afford diamond-encrusted necklaces, period details like a short, thick necklace or one glittering stone on a satin ribbon will add interest to any outfit. And pieces like that are perfect for holiday parties.
Just be forewarned – this trend should never (we repeat: never) include tiaras. Or fake crowns of any kind. (Unless you’re playing Pretty Pretty Princess – the classic board game that has taught generations of young girls the importance of accessorizing. In that case, you have our tiara blessing.)
